FREE Matariki Exhibition Papatoetoe Museum

Celebrate Matariki through a special community exhibition exploring the stories, traditions, and significance of the Māori New Year at Papatoetoe Museum. Discover the meanings behind the nine stars of Matariki, learn about remembrance, reflection, celebration, and planning for the year ahead, and explore how Matariki connects people to the natural world and to each other. This FREE exhibition is suitable for all ages and offers an opportunity to learn more about one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s most important cultural celebrations. Dates: 25 June to 23 July 2026 Opening Hours: Thursdays, 11am to 3pm and Every third Saturday of the month, 1pm to 4pm Location: Papatoetoe Museum, 35 St George Street, Papatoetoe Hosted by the Papatoetoe Historical Society Museum with support from the Ōtara Papatoetoe Local Board.
